I am an Associate Professor of Spanish in the department of World Languages and Cultures at Rutgers University, Camden, I hold a PhD in Bilingualism and Second Language Acquisition from Rutgers University, New Brunswick (2016), an MA in Hispanic Linguistics from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst (2011), and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Philology from the University of Barcelona (2009).
My research interests lie in the areas of bilingual language acquisition and education in language contact situations. I am particularly interested in analyzing the grammatical development of heritage populations (both children and adults) with the objective of exploring how syntax and the lexicon are accessed and represented in the bilingual mind. My most recent investigations focus on the importance of exploring intraspeaker variability to examine the extent to which linguistic experience (and other factors) shape HL grammars.

In addition to my field work, I am also the co-founder of the outreach group: RUBilingual? a group that was created in 2012 by graduate students from the Bilingualism and SLA program (Anne Lingwall, Crystal Marull, Lake Mathison, Patricia González, Ben Kinsella and myself). Our goal was to make the most recent investigations and established benefits of speaking more than one language accessible to the public. In May 2015, RUBilingual became one of the first U.S. branches of Bilingualism Matters, a European research network that disseminates information about multilingualism.
